Butter Pecan Turtle Bars (from an Amish cookbook)

    For the crust:
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup butter

Mix crust well and pat into a 9X13 pan.

    For filling:

Sprinkle 1 cup of pecans over the crust.  Pour 1 can sweetened condensed milk over the nuts.  Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 18-22 minutes.  Take out of oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips, toffee bits or coconut.

I have never made this recipe but it looks easy.  If I was making it I would soften the butter before adding the brown sugar and flour.  I think I might use milk chocolate chips and some toffee bits too.  If you try it let me know how it turns out.

BAcK again.. yes I tried it and I think I would remember to spray the pan before putting in the crust and use less toppings. It is extremely sweet so you might even get away with some topping that is less sweet. Iwoul dlike to make it and try maybe dried cranberries.. something tart. Maybe next time!! Let this cool completely or you will have a mess to deal with. The topping will be runny. HINT chop the pecans too. I put on whole ones and it was hard to cut through. ENJOY!!!
